right thanks guys,steering wheel from an 1988-e plate to 1996-n plate,the reason being is i prefer the look and style of the older ones.

I don't know about that. I know a 300tdi steering wheel boss is different to a TD5 one.

I would say no as the 300tdi have a smaller 36spline shaft whilst earlier 200tdi's have a coarser spline. its likely that earlier than 200tdi's also have the same or different again steering shafts/columns

My understanding was that-
Early 90-110's pre defender were one type,
Defender 200tdis and 300tdi's soft wheel landrover enbossed center are different again,
And TD5/late 300tdi's with the soft wheel and bump/airbag steering wheel are different again. But I am unsure now I have a steering column in the kitchen from a td5 ill' look. Jai

my 56 plate 90 is the same as the 300tdi 1
its only the full spec models have a airbag i think

I bought a momo steering wheel and boss for my 300tdi. When I went to fit it to my 1999 TD5 I found the TD5 shaft was smaller. I had to buy another boss.

what year is your 300 ratty? there is a change around 96. i had trouble sourcing my boss. the only way to ensure you have the right one is to count the splines.
