Hi All

i have just purchased a freelander its a 2004 but it does not have the facelift front end. there are no signs that it has been changed so i am assuming it was sat at dealership for some time.
my question is am i able to swap the bumper and headlights to the face lift ones or would it be more complicated than just changing them

thanks in advance for any advice

Dave

I think from what I have briefly red that you will need to modify the wiring loom for the lights or something along those lines. The face lift version is much nicer and if I can source the parts cheaply enough it will be something I will consider.

Or you can struggle like I did:D

No, that's very incorrect! There's a fair bit of trimming involved to get the lamps in, none of it visible once you're done but its not a straight swap! The rear isn't either

What happens to your headlights when you go from dip to main beams? On the on the pre-face lift with one headlight bulb the dip beam turns off when you switch to main, this keeps the bulb temperature within sensible limits. On the face lift model the dip bulb stays on all the time, switching to main beams simply adds the two built in spot lamps which add long range lighting to the dips. I'm curious how you achieved this?

I did this to my previous freelander (it was a late pre-facelift) and I don't recall having to change any of the wiring.

Relay locks dim beam on when yu switch to main beam. Its in the instructions ;)

Hi all, bit late to this party, but hopefully someone here is still active. I’m looking to swap the facelift bumpers and lights over to my 02 freelander. I see there’s wiring needs changing and also spotted the lights won’t work correctly without a mod and relay? Can someone give me more info please? I see somewhere it says instructions. But I can’t see any posted.
Any help would be greatly recurved, many thanks in advance!

Different plugs, relays and a 20A diode

I can get plugs from the donor, what relay is it that needs swapping and where? Also where does the diode need to go also please? Sorry for all the questions. I’m quite able around vehicles but this isn’t something I’ve seen or read about before. So clueless as to what’s been done before. Most posts are quite vague. Many thanks

I'm sure most of the electrical modifications can be solved, simply by changing the column switch.

On the facelift, the dip remains on all the time, even when main beams are selected. On the pre-facelift, the dip beams extinguish when main is selected. I believe this is done at the column switch, but I guess it could be done in the CCU.

still needs a diode.

Th and guys. So if I switch the column levers over, I just need to bridge the blue/black and blue/orange with a 20A diode? That all sounds simply enough if I haven’t cut something out.
Thanks again, appreciate this.
