why are couriers idiots

Sent out one of my 6mm hd bumpers this week, it arrived on time as well.

But some how they managed to bend a 6mm thick steel bumper in transit and drag it along far enough to go through several layers of thick cardboard bubble wrap cardboard and a few mm of steel

Holy crap. Your doing good if you bend it when you drive head on into a tree. How did they manage that I wonder.

These guys aren't 'couriers'. They are PDC's. Parcel Delivery Companies.

I was a courier for a couple of years, and took various stuff from one end of the country to the other without incident. Some of it was for the MOD.

Never damaged a consignment.

We've never had a problem with TNT and the only way I dented a 6mm bumper was being rear ended by a hilux at 40mph an crashing into my mates towball infront

That would do it

Dunno about damaging a 6 mm bumper, but I did some work at a parcel company's depot and me and my mate were sat watching in disbelief at how the parcels are thrown around, and I am serious when I say thrown!!!!!

I've also had some large items delivered with severe fork lift damage, I don't think their as gentle as they could be

Get straight onto them for a claim, our parcel company at work only accept claims within 24 hours of the item being received.

That must of been driven over

I use apc next day service, never had a problem with then in 2 years
Before that I used DHL never again they lost more than they delivered

I don't know, but my TNT delivery that was supposed to be here before 10am still hasn't turned up

TNT put a hole in my drivers door that, again, was covered in corrugated cardboard. There was a thread on here about it with pics.

I breathe a sigh of relief when I look out the window and see it's DPD delivering.

Insurance will refuse to pay out on first try, but, with a small threat they'll pay out for item + a bit extra

Aye, they just want you to go away you have to push a little. 6mm metal can get bent if you believe what was in that documentary a few weeks ago.

A few years ago I used to travel to and from Birmingham by train a lot. Often the train used to wait on the approach to New Street Station and nearby there was a Parcel Force depot. It's not there any more - just a vacant site. But at night when the doors were open and the lights were on it was most instructive. They used to use a forklift truck as a bulldozer to shift piles of parcels from one side of the building to the other. Even watching from a hundred yards away I found myself wincing as packages were crushed beneath its wheels and impaled on its tines. Especially the ones marked 'Fragile'. On another occasion I was having something delivered by a different courier and he parked on the slope outside the house and opened the back doors. There was an avalanche of parcels which had obviously accumulated at the back of the van as he'd driven up the hill. Many of them were addressed to a nearby music shop and, of course, said 'Fragile' and 'Instruments: With Care'. He didn't seem too bothered and merely threw them back in the van and continued on his rounds. It's perfectly possible to bend 6mm sheet if you run over it with a forklift - those things are heavy.

The other thing I should mention is that any good parcel delivery guy will do his round with a couple of heavy items like car engines strapped to pallets in the back. These will be allowed to slide around as he does his white van man style driving so as to ensure that all the weaker items are cleared out of the parcel gene pool.

Saw something else today as we were having a parcel delivered for my girlfriend. There was a pallet truck loose in the back of the van which looked like it had been allowed to slide around and squash the parcels. A number of parcels had burst, including hers. Fortunately the contents were intact.

yep, fedex guy delivered my clutch kit and just dropped it from 2 feet onto the floor in my porch.

I said im not signing that until i check it, he took the hump and started giving me **** about how he is late etc etc.

I said "bollocks" if you hadnt have dropped it, i wouldn have to check it.

As it turns out it was fine but not the point.

They dont give a fook about the parcels as long as there home at the end of the day.

exactly they couldnt give a fook, and parcels with fragile stickers get even worse treatment

Well the idiots struck yesterday with me. They decided to put our delivery of dog food in the dogs enclosure.
