Which Waxoyl gun?

I've decided to underseal my Disco and am starting off by Hammeriting and then undersealing as much of it as I can get at.

I then plan to Waxoyl inside the chassis rails etc. I've got a compressor which runs at 80 psi. Can anyone suggest which Waxoyl gun / applicator to get please?

I've just ordered on off ebay. I should be having a play with it next weekend. I'll let you know which one and how I got on with it later,

Not a fan of Hammerite, tends to chip easily. Personally I'd use one of Granville paints products. Think they do a chassis black and it's cheaper.

After much trawling the internet, I bought this:

I did my car with it last summer ( and then sold it to buy the Disco), but I was impressed with it and plan to do the Disco when its warmer.

Ordered Thursday, Arrived today, seems OK, just need to wait until weekend to try it out.

I got one from Machine Mart. What you need is a Shutz gun. This one has a removable nozzle and a pipe which screws in. You can use this to spray inside chassis rails. My mates and I did three landrovers in one day.

Mind you we used Dinitrol not waxoyl. But it was a base coat and a different top coat.

I have had one of those clake schutz guns for over 20 years, still works fine. I will be under mine again when the weather gets better.

I had a look at the Clarke website but couldn't find the Shultz gun - anyone got a link please?

OK, I've got hold of the Schutz gun and some Tetra Schutz - thanks to the advice in earlier posts. Should I dilute the Tetra Schutz or use it straight from the tin?

Sorry for the delay in replying,

The gun I bought works OK; Takes a bit of getting used to, either all-or-nothing, but I'm not complaining for the price. Also bought a gallon of Waxoyl at Beaulieu autojumble for £22 (£32 at Halfords).

It's a messy bastard of a job to do on axle stands. I have a pit but couldn't be arsed to use it for the rear legs. Probably will use it for the rest. Obviously best done on a bare rolling chassis, but it's not practical to remove the body on your daily driver!

Overall, happy with the gun & process, just got to finish the job now!

Used the Shultz gun with some Waxoyl to squirt the inside of a motorcycle swinging arm box section - works a treat - thanks for the tip off.

Any idea if I need to dilute the Tetra Schutz?

The stuff that comes in the 1 litre tins that screw straight onto the schutz gun should not be diluted, use it as it comes.

Save the tins and refill them with waxoyl for doing inside chassis etc. you don't need to thin it using a schutz gun and compressor but if you do it helps the waxoyl to "creep" into all those nooks and crannies.

Not sure about other products, but waxoyl benefits from being heated (in its can!) in a pan of water to reduce viscosity

just mix waxoyl with std thinners ,it works

dont mix it with thinners , just heat it in a bowl of water for a couple of mins...

youve never waxoyled many vehicles then ,cos if you tried it its far better than warming in water
