How did Land Rover decide which model got the high/low comp engines? I see the two engines were sold side by side. Was it purely a decision when you purchased them new? What are the the difference? Not the actual physical difference. Does the LC produce more torque lower down or visa-versa? Was it the only 4.6 which was sold in two version or did the 4.0 also come in two flavours?

In days of yore the manuals got LC and the automatics got HC. LC ran off 92 octane juice HC off 95 octane. Should tell you from the engine number.

So the LC sounds like it's more flexible on what fuel it can use. makes sense. Mines a HC I was just curious to how they decided which engine you ended up with

In practice, with general wear n tear on the engine, different driving styles, urban/country location and poor servicing, by the time they've hit their first service, there's bugger all difference between Hi/Lo compression engines, apart from when they come off the production line.

Mainly because they've had the arse ragged out of them by delivery drivers, sales men and the workshop staff.....I know I was one once...:crazy_driver:....:jaw:

Maybe. I was more interested in how the engines were handed out that's all.
