I've had a search on the net and here. Has anyone bought a 'rolling' recon axle from a supplier in the uk? I note Simmonites provide a nice shiny rebuilt axle with all ancillaries attached, but they are not cheap at 600-700 quid a pop. I was looking for a good Disco 1 rear axle to transplant onto my 90 to get rear discs, but I reckon it can be really hit and miss with breakers. Any comments welcome. Thanks!

Jamseyboy, Problem is finding a decent axle case. Most disco's RRC have rotten suspension mounts and diff pans. I reckon to make it worth while its going to be the best part of £150 to do yourself on the cheap and lots of time

Old axle £30,
Refurbished calipers £20 +some time,
new stubs £70,
bearings seals £30,
wire brush,
paint ect I reckon you ca do it your self for about £150 plus lots of time.

I may have a disk axle case kicking about out the back let me have a look tonight.

Hi Jai and The Beast - sounds like a scary movie!

Anyway, I have until the 14 Jan to get one as that is when my galvo chassis and bulkhead are fitted at Richards. Not much time for me to import and build one here in Ulster and then fit it and send it back over with the vehicle. I'm prepared to pay someone over there to build and paint a good'un for me or take one off a dedicated supplier - it's just the simplest option in terms of logistics and quality. What do you reckon?
