Been driving around last few days, and a horrible rumble from the rear end has been getting louder n louder. Ah bollox "Wheels Bearings".

So got down to bussiness today, stripped it all down.

Got bearings out along with some WATER? there was plenty of grease inside but it was rather more like Muddy Water than grease. But the seal looked in tact and was a good seal??

Anyway got them all changed over now for Bearmach parts, so fingers crossed no more water? gets in!

just a couple o pics.

Took me bout 1 1/2 Hours from jacking up, to jacking down. Not too bad for my first attempt!

Cheers Sam

yeah yopu jave to check them after off orading as the water does find it's way past the rubber caps, I got sick of having to regrease mine, so i changed over to heavy duty drive flanges from paddocks for the front, My rears are a complete unit.

Because they screw on water doesnt get in, but just to make sure i used a drop of liquid PTFE on the threads, i still check them every few months, 18 Months later i havent had any water find its way in,

It was a good investment as i had to cut a drive flange of when the cv joint was rusted solid to it, at least it kept the water out

haha I think you win JP :p

I had a similar issue in the Travel Lodge car park in Devizes on a Sunday morning. No pictures but it was certainly buggered - rear offside. About an hour and a half for me too. Of the other three, one on the drive, needed a bit of polishing around the stub axle (front nearside) the other rear was about the same in the drive, but the last one was two days and an angle grinder to get the drive flange off. Bas***d of a jpb, but new bearings and grease and new seals, plus raised breathers now and all sound , well quiet.
