Like you Nick I will miss it [Serious Series on there].
Tried asking Snagger[AKA Nicks Landrover] he has not been active for awhile so knows nothing , can you name any of the moderators?
RMS comes to mind.
It has been going downhill since Sandy left.

Sad to see it's down - presumably gone for good :( I think it's been a ghost ship for some months as far as site ownership goes. I post here and on Seriously Series too but all the forums have something unique to offer so will miss it.

I've just joined here too. havent been able to get on LRUK for a week or so now. DarrenH was a moderator but I dont have any contact info. Its a shame, it kind of felt like family as there were people who Id spoken to for literally years. While I always visited other forums I had never actually joined another until today. Here's hoping this one becomes as much of a familiar place. At least here are a few familiar "faces".

Welcome lads I was on the old landrovernet also.
I have just tried an email to the admin address as they where in my historic emails from a birthday , will wait and see if any response.

ey up, DarrenH from landrovernet.

from what we know the domain was set up in august 2003 for 14 years and expired at midnight last monday. think the site was setup by a fella called Jason from lothian in scotland, and there was a Jason admin (user simply called jason) but i've been on landrovernet since 2009 and never seen him post or be active, so assume he is estranged. we know who is hosting the forum, which is still there its just lost the domain name which pointed to it. since that Jason fella is gone not really sure what to do about it.

the only active admin i know of were Ian - Lighting90 (also from scotland) but had also not been active for years. the most recent active admin was Sandy - bigsandy (also from scotland) active in as much as he made me a Mod in jan 2016, but have not seen him around since, anyone know him or have an email kicking around ?

as much as i know about forums, being an admin doesnt make you the site owner, it just means you have admin privileges on the forum, full access to all the buttons so to speak. so even if we found any of forum admin i'm not sure it would help on the domain or server hosting side.

the last few years its felt a bit like we've been stealing our neighbours wifi, but they moved out 10 years ago and now the internets died we cant get into the house to fix it and the owners nowhere to be seen

I might have Big Sandy's home address in my archived emails...possibly not though as a few years worth of my emails got deleted randomly a while back.

apparently not. It was worth checking at least. We had exchanged a couple of things years ago not long after I had got my landy. Can the forum host not get in touch with the original site owner in any way?

That's what I'm awaiting a reply to....

I'd be happy to try to continue its running... if possible.
thats a shame about sandy email.
we know the email address and home address for the person who owns the domain name landrovernet (jason) but no response as yet. pretty sure he left donkeys years ago and probably doesnt care even if was contacted.

I'm not sure that it's just the domain that has expired (it would be possible re use the domain redirect/or setup new ones)

I've a feeling that the host has also expired as I cannot find anyway to access the forum or where it currently exists at all...
Unless the domain redirect is also part of the host platform....
That said I'm more familiar with simplemachines rather than BB as we stepped away from BB some time ago due to its rather 'clunky' mechanics.

Possibly gone forever
as by the looks of it the host deletes everything the day before renewal IF the domain isn't renewed....

In addition to the general terms and conditions of agreement with {{OrgName}} listed in Sections 1 through 21, you agree to the following terms and conditions for registrations in .UKWITH THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT MODIFICATION: You also agree that .UK domains which are not renewed will be deleted one day before the scheduled expiration date. For example: You register a .UK domain on April 9, 2003, for two years. Then, on April 7, 2005, you renew the domain for an additional two years. Your domain will then be scheduled to expire on April 9, 2007. If, however, you do not renew your domain on April 7, 2005, it will be deleted on April 8, 2005. The reason for this is that Nominet uses a non-real-time email-based system to make status changes in the .UK registry. The combination of this email-based system and Nominet's policy on renewals means that we will be charged for a renewal unless the name is deleted (via instructions in an email) prior to the end of the registration period which is then in effect. As a consequence, if we do not receive your renewal instructions prior to one-day before the end of the registration period, we will send the delete instruction one-day before the end of the registration period then in effect. Also, all .UK registrations are bound to a different Dispute Policy than the one outlined in section 4 above. Section 4 will still apply when registering any .UK domain. However, Nominet's Dispute Policy shall be applied instead of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

Yes very sad news.
I had been a member on there for many years and made some great friends.
Many of the original members had become less active and many not active at all.
The last time i looked in there were very few new posts and mainly got down to about a dozen or so just chatting amounst themselves.
It was a great forum in its day and i could see it slowly fading away.
I had some good photos in the gallery wish i had kept a copy of them now.:(
