We moved over to the U.S. 10 years ago and we just got around to bringing over a defender 90. We had the guys at Liveridge do a complete restoration of an 85' 300tdi. Looks great, drives great.

Issue about being over in the U.S. is we don't have the quick parts or quality like in England. I'm wondering what spare parts do you defender owners bring in the 90, and what would you guys recommend for me to keep in stock in the garage due to not having quick access to parts??

I'm looking into maybe doing a large order over in England to save on shipping... Got tools and some mechanical experience from working on my uncles farm, but I want to learn more.

All the help is much appreciated, already got the Haynes manual and read through a lot of it....

Hmmm.. an '85 300tdi????
Ah'd be tempted to have some spare belts, ball joints. filters and uj's fur starters;)
Oh, and welcome tae the Zone.... thick skin and guid sense o' humour is a must!;):D:D

Thanks guys, already working on the oil and filters. Its next to impossible to find a local dealer with gl-4 gear oil, all I'm finding is the gl-5 crap. I'll now be looking into the belts, ball joints, ujs, bearings, etc...

If I'm going to get some spare uj's should I spend a few extra bucks and get the wide angle high carbon things if I decide to lift it later on? It does already seem high enough, my mum needs a boost to get in.

Oil seals for hubs4,gearbox output2,diff pinion2,steering swivals2 and gasgits needed when changing hub and swival seals.[you can make these yourself from thick paper]
