Hi all,
I'm putting together a project off-roader that's going to go to a good home with a hospital in Madagascar. It's being built on a budget and will cover a lot of miles on bad roads and through deep mud and water. I'm looking for a driver's and a passenger's seat.

In decreasing order of priority, they need to be:
- Waterproof, in the sense that they don't hold it like a sponge and don't go mouldy when damp
- Reasonably comfortable - hard plastic bucket seats are out!
- Fairly easy to source a replacement if they break in future, so not out of some Japanese market kei-car that was only made in 1993-1994
- Reasonably cheap, so ideally something second-hand out of an existing vehicle

RX8 seats look good except they're either cloth or leather and I can see either going pretty mouldy if left damp. I'd rather not get into re-trimming in vinyl but wouldn't rule it out if nothing else offered itself.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Yep. ^^^^^
Standard defender seats with waterproof seat covers is the way forward.
Use the KISS principal on something like this project for it to have any kind of future in some where like Madagascar ( wherever that is ???)

Thanks for the guidance - the cab on this beastie isn't Land Rover (the running gear is though) so I'd not given Defender seats much thought. eBay suggests they're pretty pricey though, as with all things Defender these days. Is buying and re-upholstering some rough ones a sensible idea or more trouble than it's worth?
