what is wrong with it?

i have a land rover series 3 109 commercial and since replaced the clutch master cylinder it hasn't been right. i replaced it put another one on didn't blead it and it worked fine apart from the fact that for it to disengage you had to have the clutch pedal touching the footwell, left it for a week and went to use it again and put my foot on the clutch and there was no clutch whatsoever tried bleading it (which diddn't make any difference despite some air coming out) and adjusting it up on the nuts on the master cylinder and it worked left it for another week and no clutch again blead it again no air in it but didn't adjust the bolts on the master again but what i did notice was and prehps dad overfilled the master cylinder was it was squirting clutch fluid out of the top. after this last session of bleading the clutch the clutch still didn't work. any help would be very much apreciated

have you checked the slave cylinder seals

it isn't leaking if thats what you mean and the clutch has again gone as if there is nothing there

when you push it how much pressure is there mate

Take the slave cylinder off (only two bolts) a long extension makes it easier and check the slave cylinder seal, if the master cylinder was gone this may be too, also check the slave piston rod engages in the clutch arm correctly

The problem lies in the MASTER cylinder.

Make sure the pedal is coming fully up before you do owt else. It must come RIGHT UP.
If it doesn't, the master cylinder won't function properly. It won't top itself up from trhe reservoir, and it won't let stray air bubbles escape. CARAMBA - no clutch!

It may need all new seals, and probably ALSO to be set up with the correct free play on the pushrod from the pedal.

It is ABSOLUTELY VITAL to clutch operation that the piston in the master cylinder comes ALL the way back when you take your boot off the pedal.
