Hi all time has came when i need to replace my sills (lucky just outer ones) due to 2" of mud rotting through.. Does anyone know what the supports just infront of the front body mount is for? just after the sill and inner body mount there is a bit of metal going across the car about 6-8" only attatched to the floor. I cant see it doing anything, its just there is a little bit of rust at the bottom of that too and not sure it if will fail an mot for it. Any help much appreciated hoping not to do them as still got one sill and two rear mounts to do wish it would stop raining
What is this bit? do i need it?

I think you is refering to the sill stiffening gusset at the end of the sill that also serves as a stiffener for the floor pan in that area. Possibly no big loss if it's gone, looks to be more for cosmetic purposes than for anything else. can't imagine an inspector being savvy to it absence.
