So, the franken110 will be getting a new engine, the plan is to junk the mazda slt and the zf and put a 300tdi and manual 5sp in.

I've got the 300, but I'm just not sure what gearbox I need to go with it?

Thers seems a lot of options? Long Bell housings, short Bell housing?
Lt77's, r380's and all seem to have different gear selectors???

I was given a r380 of a disco with the engine, but the selector that came with it doesn't seem to fit properly? When it goes in reverse the Lever locks up and won't move, it's like there's something missing from the bottom that must stop you going from R to 5th?

I'll get some pics the morro.

Anyone help a beginner outo_O

Cheers

300 should have r380 there are only 2 selector options disco = short stick ,defender = long stick
theres a lock to stop you going straight in to rev from 5th which means stick needs moving left first then right to select rev, def and disco tops arent inter changeable unless an adapter is used to extend disco selector shaft

OK, this is what I was given, it was free, so if its no good, then it's no drama;)

(Edit, I just realised this isn't a r380!, but a lt77)

This is where I think there's a part missing, but again I don't even know if the two parts go together?

So are disco/defender r380 the same except for the selectors? Same bell housings?
Is it just that the disco lever sits further back?
Tbh the further back the Lever sits the better as my 110 has a puma dash.

Sorry for all the stupid questions!

And anyone need a lt77, Edinburgh way?

So picked up a r380, discovery stick, think this will work as I have a puma dash and want the stick further back, worst case I see an adaptor can be bought from ashcrofts

Next question, will the transfer box from the zf4hp22 fit on the rear of the r380?
