What engine type on 05 plate?

Wonder if you can help us on this one... The boss at work has a 05 plate RR with I think a 4.6 ltr petrol V8 in it... He say's it's a Jag unit that's fitted and has been having coolant problems.. If it is jag????? does anyone know the type so I can search for engine construction details... ie are they top hat liners etc?? Any thoughts... Cheers...
 
If its an 05 plate, it'll b 4.4 or a 4.2. If it's the 4.2, it COULD be a jag engine, and I'm guessing the 4.4 will just be bigger bored
 
Actually, probably not. BMW owned Land Rover, and Ford owned Jaguar. Could be 2 different engines.
 
The 4.4 V8 is the BMW sourced engine, the 4.2 is the Ford/Jaguar sourced unit which would be supercharged.

Of course I could be wrong 'cos Land Rover seem to be putting a new engine in the RR every year these days. Supercharged Direct Injection 5.0 V8? Sounds good!

When the 4.2 Supercharged came out the N/A 4.4 went from being a BMW unit to a Jag one too, I'm not sure if it was in 2005 though:confused:
