What do I need to rob off the Discovery?

So, I've just recently become the owner of a 300TDi Defender and I've managed to get my hands on a 300TDi Discovery that was going to be srap'd.

I'm planning on removing the engine, gearbox, transfer box, drivetrain etc. but is there anything else that will be useful to have before I send it on to the scrap yard? Do the axles fit a Defender? etc...

All advise appreciated.

You've got the major bits there mate that you're likely to be able to make use of. Not sure on the axles, but given everything else is universal between the two it's a fair guess they'll fit as well. Someone will be along soon to confirm !

Yes axles are a direct swap, you'll need to play about with the brake pipes on the front axle as they connect on different sides of the shock absorber but that's easily rectified. Also your Disco uses a three bolt flange on the rear axle and Defenders use a four so ebay here you come ;)

Yeah, I have a Disco steering box and drop arm on my '89 Landy 90, using the same Disco Sumo bars .. Slightly different lengths as I recall, but notalot.

I'd also keep the radiator/intercooler and surround. Mounts might need fettling to fit, but I've done that too. I'd also try to keep the wheels .. always a bonus to have a spare set for trundling a chassis around, or even for a second set of tyres.

All good stuff guys - thanks for the input and keep it coming!

I'll be picking the Discovery up on Saturday, so I'll get a good look at it then and see what we can get off it...
