i have a 1975 series 3 swb 88 and its like driving a pile of bricks to work

i have avon rangemaster 7.50 tyres on standard wheels (i think) , pararabolic springs and pro comp 9000 explorer shocks

i live in a town completly coverered with 20 mph speed limits and speed bumps everywhere , they seem to be exactly the same width and length as my land rover cos every time i go over a speed bump i seem to be catapulted into the air , its good fun for the first couple of days but at 6am going to work its not fun .

what can i do to soften the ride ? i bought the landy with these modifications , my brother in law has a bog standard series 3 and his ride seems a lot softer .

im thinking of getting a set of bog standard series wheels to see if that makes a difference , and i've also just read that there is different set of parabolics with 2 , 3 or 4 leafs depending on how much you tow or carry in the back . i have 2 leafs on the front and 3 which is ok for towing or carrying heavy loads which i dont do , is there any way of removing a leaf ?

Dont think you'll be able to take a leaf out.
I would have thought there might be an owner or two that'd swapsie your parabolics for standards though.

Only thing i would suggest is to remove the parabolics and fit a set of standard springs. Sounds to me the springs you have fitted have no give in them and their a bit too hard for the road. I wonder what the condition of them are like, are they new springs? My friend has a S1 which he fitted brand new standard springs to. For the first few months it was like riding on air, then the landy was parked up for about a year or so. When he went back to it the ride was horendus. It was bouncing all over the place. He removed the springs and cleared all the dirt, rust and rubbish out of in between them gave then a good greasing and he hasn't looked back since. This might be worth a try.

indeed, back on topic, my paroblics were a tad hash as well (new and rust free they were) much prefered the rusty standard leafs on my diesel series!

and back to fatties, they do indeed need loving too!! skinny wimins are just trouble!!
