Up **** creek.
Just as a matter of personal opinion im curious as to which brands/companies do you guys rate in the landrover scene, and also which ones to avoid. Hopefully this will help fellow LR owners like me with thier choices when they go to fix/tart up their landys in the future.

Just to get the ball rolling:- I think paddocks spares is a great firm and also would really rate Bilstien and BFGoodrich as excellent brands,

apparently magnecor are good but overpriced, original LR stuff is good but can be expensive, I find ebay is a great place to find bits but to be wary of the skanks. Oh and apparently Britpart has earned the name ****part.

please feel free to add your two pence worth...:)

I've used lots of Britpart stuff and never had any problems with them - don't reckon they deserve ther ****part label at all. If you want the top quality, original LR then just pay the price.

Paddocks are just brilliant for me, living here in France. I can order stuff on the website on monday morning and they will arrive thurs, can't beat that, plus £5 for up to 30kgs of stuff - just brill. If I ever have an issue with them they have dealt with it straight away with full reimbursement. I reckon they can't be beaten.

I've used JGS (Ebay shop) and LR Series both of whom have been excellent and helpful.

And that's my tuppen'th

your in a minority of 1 there

if PoundLand started selling landy bits i'd bet they'd be better than most ****Part products - read ANY landy forum and you'll find dozens of people moaning how crap their products are

I don't believe for one moment that I am in a majority of one and I do read at least four different Landy forums.

I have read of several people who have had issues with Britpart parts, but that doesn't change my experience of them.

Of course there will always be vociferous contributors who don't know how to install things correctly and are ready to blame anyone else at hand, but not me I like Britpart stuff and accept that it is good value but not always LR quality level ( although when I write that last phrase I do remember ALL the quality problems that LR build into their vehicles - sunroofs is a corker that jumps to mind.

We should remember that LR only actually manufacture quite a small amount of the bits in their vehicles themselves, the majority of it is bought in from a variety of suppliers. Re the LR spare parts eg filters, they will be actually manufactured by the likes of Fram/Coopers etc etc.

So when we talk about Britpart stuff, it's not manufactued by Britpart as they are only a glorified wholsaler, it can and often is, OE supplier parts put in a non-LR carton or bag. I'm not saying this happens in every case but I have examples of buying Britpart lift pumps (TDi 300 kit) from Paddocks and when they turn up they are Delphi !!!! When ordering a Britpart vacuum pump what turned up was a WABCO one, which I believe is OE.

My take on all of this is that we can and should make informed choices about how we spend our resources ie time and money.

And we shouldn't use generalised derogatory labels just because something didn't work out the way we had hoped - maybe we didn't ask enough questions before buying?

"Light Blue touchpaper and retire..................quickly !!!!!!!!!!":behindsofa:

PS My best mate is a chief buyer for Poundland so I have some insight into how they operate - you wouldn't want their LR parts trust me !!!!!!!

Avoid D4x4 like the Plague, Unless you enjoy getting bent over the counter and shafted. I'd say that on average their prices are double what you can get the same item for elsewhere. Service is ****e and their staff are a bunch of stuckup obnoxious ****ers. :D

Must admit to liking paddocks. Their online ordering is way better than Craddocks, and many others ... and they're pretty knowledgeable when you turn up and ask questions.

I also like RCV, a local specialist.

and ebay .. ;)

Craddocks online is perfect, as long as you know the part number, and you don't mind not being able to see an image of what your buying

Britpart stuff is CRAP, anyone who argues differently hasn't seen much of it, or the results of people having fitted it - yes they might sell some stuff OEM stuff, that's not the problem - it's the water pumps with bearings that break up after less than 1000 miles, the thermostats that stick, the oil pumps that don't pump oil - all of which result in badly damaged engines, which ****part won't be paying to repair - the suspension springs that sag, the leaf springs that snap, the oil and fuel filters that fall apart because they are glued together with glue that can't withstand heat - then there's the oil seals that leave visible gaps, even the one's that do look right leak after a day - i could go on and on .......

fortunately peeps have become much more aware that Britpart sell CRAP products, that's why they are having financial troubles and have recently taken on the distribution of Jaguar components in an attempt to prop up an ailing company

i havn't really used the other companys mentioned but i always use mm4x4 i have never had trouble ordering or getting parts and the delivery is quick.

Britpart is ****, and anyone who thinks otherwise needs their eyes checking, or you used to buying crap
Craddocks is good when you go in there although they sometimes think your retarded and dont understand what you want to buy! I went in once, and got my lift kit from them, i then asked to purchase a set of braided brake hoses to which the guy behind the counter said very firmly 'you dont need those' - i said OK 'ill buy them from somewhere else then! your loss
Roen Landrover is great for standard parts but a rip off for any non standard items
