Alright guys. I was thinking of getting some jate rings for the front of the Disco but came across and got these instead.

What are they? I've been asked about them and I have no idea what to say to people. Been trying google searches for 'recovery points', 'front recovery points', 'with jacking points' all of that but can't find any (watch some smart arse find them instantly on the first page of a search now :p )

I've got the front passenger side one on, fastens to the chassis with the two front bumper mounting bolts and then further back, I haven't got the drivers side one on yet as I can't undo the 19mm bolt undone that attaches ??????? to the chassis (can anyone fill in the ???????)

They've got the eye for the shackel bolt to go through and also the high lift jacking point needing the same bit of kit the 90/110 need to use a high lift jack.

Cheers ears

Aha...

You're wrong :p

Just spoke to the fella I got them from to see what they are called and if he had anymore but he does not and doesn't know if there was any specific name for them.

He'd bought them in specifically years ago for a job, but ended up braking that particular car and put them somewhere, and dug them out when I was there asking about stuff.

I could make a template up of them for you if you know someone who could fabricate them for you.

I think they are 10mm thick steel. Would mind a pair for the rear if they fit there too, well sturdy

He did say that David Bowyers used to do them years back, I have sent an e-mail to david bowyers with a picture of them enquiring if they have any and how much. Will keep you posted

cool... cheers mate!!!

goonarmy..seems like you were wrong! lol
but still... it does look a lot like the mounting plates for a steering guard

Karlo, you are indeed a dude....

Here is the reply I got from David Bowyer

"Dear Dan,

Yes, these Jackmates are not only far better than Jake Rings, but you can jack on them too with a High Lift jack adaptor.

Somewhere, we may have a display sets for Classic Range Rover, Discovery 200 & 300 tdi at £75 a set plus carriage and VAT. These are only designed for front use

Kind Regards
"

He said the bit about designed only for front use as I mentioned possibly using a set on the rear

; P

I got mine for £20 for the pair but they are second hand and donkeys years old... And hard to find..

So there you have it, want a pair? Get hold of David Bowyer +44 1363 82666 (looks a digit short to me but that's what was on the e-mail)
