Good evening all,

Does anybody know of a decent place to get welding done in or near Dundee. I bought a 2" receiver from Safari Equipment but when Iv come to fit the receiver the arms that go to the chassis can't fit flush due to a weld where the rear crossmember was replaced last year. Either side of the receiver will need about 1cm removing and rewelding so the supports can still attatch.

If you wish to tackle it yourself, you can come to me and use my set up, if its heavy enough for what you are doing.

I've got a Clarke 135 with Co2 set up and am your side of Glasgow near Cumbernauld.

What actually needs welding ? Got any pics.

Cant you just grind the weld flush and fit your bracket ? Itll still have penetration - the hump on the surface isnt the strong bit.

Anyway as above if you can weld your welcome to use my kit in aberdeen. Unfortunantly as indicated in my other thread im up to my tits in 90 bits doing my own rebuild to do it for ya :(

If your willin to pay lots try strathearn eng near perth or look into lcs on slroc- he seems to be a fair lad with pricing . Not sure how far he is from you.

"when welding near Dundee" watch you don't burn the cakes ...,lol sorry couldn't resist :rolly:

Cheers for the replies! I'd love to come visit and do it myself but I'd be compleatly out of my depth, I've got a grinder, did consider just flattening it off but didn't know if that would weaken it. Another option would be to bend the arm But it's quite a hefty bit of kit, il grab some pics now

The right hand side is about 2 cm out, but there's no play due to the fuel tank

nah - when welding near dundee watch someone doesnt steal your spark ;) - im from smokie town just up the road from arbroath and went to uni in dundee before anyone has at me for that joke :D

from your pictures - if thats welded right and has full penetration i would have no issue with grinding the area you need flattened - flat and sticking a coat of paint over it.

as i said before the bulbous part of the weld offers little more to the joint.

Finally got a local blacksmit to shorten the receiver so the arms fit flush, £30 and he painted it back black! Made a reli good job of it so would highly recommend him if anyone needed something similar doing, just give me a shout and il send the details, cheers for your help.
