Whoopee feckin' dooooo ... ;)

Got me welder working spot on now! Been having trouble with intermittent feed rates which I'd put down to old mig wire .. black and rough spots all over it, causing the feed rollers to 'miss' every so often, giving a poor, pigeon-**** weld.

So replaced the wire and went up from .6 to .8 so it fed easier with more tension, but still it skipped every so often.

So stripped the head down, wires out, liner out, gas tube out, then at the welderiser end the same .... and it seems on further investigation that the liner had loads of kinks and holes in it so was also full of water, grit etc etc. So bought a new liner.

Transformed. Nice clean welds, excellent control on feed rates, and it all sounds nicer 'cos the motor doesn't have to work so hard pushing the wire through .. ;)

I is happy ... I can now get on with finishing me bloody sills ... so long as nowt else screws up. Should have been finished weeks ago but couldn't figure out why the welds were coming out so badly!

Just shows I should have spoke and listened to me bro ... or paid more attention to reds website .. ;)

You know now we'll want to see piccys of your welding :D :p

But theres nothing worse then dirty wire and stuffed linner and hoping for a goos weld , also cheap welders that pulse the wire insted of it running out smoothly

Not took any pics of today 'cos it still never worked right!!!

;)

Think my welder needs the same treatment - spent more time fooking about last time when i did the disco boot floor, than welding! Looked like it did when I was an apprentice! lol!

You had some good flow in places there mate :) , what gas are you using ? , I know that next doors SIP welder hates Argon - argon/CO2 but loves CO2 .....

Cherry tree ... ;)

Considering it's first time I've welded for 20+ years and the welder was feckin' about with rusty wire, a poor liner, slipping rollers and only .6 wire I'm reasonably happy with it. Using 'pub gas' .. came with welder. Picking a new bottle up tonight.

Me bro is a welder by trade and said I should use Argoshield, but what a price!! £100 a year (Rental, new bottle and refill) wouldn't be bad if I were likely to use it regularly, but after this there's so little to do on the Disco and I'm unlikely to use it too much, it's just st00pid money, so I'll carry on with plain CO2 @ £20 a refill .. :)

Rota services, BOC contract. Got a leaflet somewhere I could scan for you and post a pic of if you like, have to wait till tomorrow probably though .. ;)

I think it's the standard BOC contract ...

If you like I could arrange collection and delivery from Doncaster to yours, which is cheaper than them delivering it direct, as I only live half a mile away. We have family in Kimberley and Eastwood so it's not far out of our way .. ;)

Incidentally, just bought (swapped) a bottle of CO2 for £20, at a different place, which I think is OK .. not that I've done it before but it seems fair to me .. ;)

Don't see why not .. unless it needs to be carried upright, but if it fits in the Disco stood up even that'd be OK. ;)
