Perched on the naughty step
So......600 miles, 8am - 1am driving from the lakes to surrey and back again!

We started off with a V70 and got there (after many traffic jams) around 3 ish and got back on the road up north about 5:15, from here (and with a speedo that doesn't know what speed I'm doing) it became rather interesting!

No doors, roof rolled up at the back, a hat, hoody, jumper and lots of redbull later I arrived back in the lakes :D

The little beast is a 3.6L V8 powered Series one from 1957 (and yes 3.6 is correct, its over bored), the engine is running an Edelbrock intake system and slightly restrictive P6 manifolds so they'll be coming off in place for tubular headers when I find some but first off is to simply take off the Cherrybomb and fit my Harley slash cuts as a true dual system on 2.5" bore pipe :D

Not much to add really other than the fact its a fully rebuilt series with a couple of small jobs on it to make it mint!

The fan belt did snap today on my way home which was good timing really! Broke as I entered my drive :) so a new one will be bought after the bank hols (dad binned my spare one from the last V8)

So heres some pics and a vid......no harm shall come to this little beast as I plan on keeping it as a very stock little series :) LWB brakes, roll hoop for safety, defender seats for a bit of extra comfort and thats about all it has apart from the rebuilt everything!

Engine had 1000 miles on it from rebuild when I picked it up yesterday and the chassis was a new but 16 year old original Marsland chassis with the correct pressed crossmember not the new **** one. Oh and just so you know the 0-60 is faster than my Golf GT TDI......this thing is a proper wolf in sheep's clothing!

It wont be purring like that with the true dual system ;) that should give it a nice bark!

I'll get some more pics when I put the new wheels and tyres on, same size just a different tread :) (need to paint the wheels black too I think, they're silver atm)

I'm going to have to make a few mods to make it a little more comfortable though

First off is the speedo swap for the LWB one that came with it, then a set of properly balanced tyres, sound proofing panels in the top of the footwells and under the front seats, next is a cubby box (I think it had one as theres holes there already,) rear work light for reversing, front spot lights, a proper series one indicator switch as it has a S3 one fitted and finally a small heater  it got rather cold rather fast last night

Oh and I'll buy a whole new set of door and windscreen seals as the old ones are buggered!

Yeah well this one runs lovely :p when its time for the laning trip I'll see if I can borrow a go pro :D

Just need to get a sump guard and diff guards for it :) oh and make up a tank guard too!
