Weber or Zenith

Zenith's are getting a bit scarce and the copies are of hit and miss quality.

Fuel consumption is a little better with a Weber as they run leaner but at the expense of oomph and are said to be more prone to jet blockage.

It's all a bit swings and roundabouts. If you're happy with how it runs I'd leave it.

A 2.5 carb would be nice but there's a fair bit of faffing, manifold/downpipe/cable to sort out.

It depends on your desire to achieve authenticity. Zenith is the original specifation but Weber's are a good and long accepted alternative. Webers are prone to idled jet coming but easily fixed. I have a Weber and find it reliable.

When you say "easily fixed" do you mean, strip the carb and clean/replace or is there an easier way. The reason I ask is that every time I do anything to my carb I end up in a a worse situation so I'm therefore very reluctant to take it to bits.
