Weathered Lamp Guards

Hi. Just bought a mint p38, but, the lamp guards are a bit faded. I was thinking of using matt black hammerite or plastikote to freshen them up - does anyone agree/disagree, or have a better method of refurbing them?

hammerite, plasticote is a pain to retouch.

don't paint them they are plastic just rub some autoglym bumper & trim gel about £6 a bottle ,might take a couple of layers but good stuff

personally I'd plastikote with a rattlecan; always gives a better finish than hammerite, and shouldnt really need retouching. if it does, simply spray it again. sprayed a set of alloy wheels with plastikote 2 years ago, and not a flake bubble or chip so far. or you could just polish up with back to black or something like wil said
