On tues I had a problem with my 2002 TD5 auto Disco that I thought I had better share with you guys.

Car has been perfect up to this stage.

On the M1 doing about 65mph in Torque lockup when the revs started dancing all over the place and eventualy lost all drive .

Managed to get onto the hard shoulder, in the pouring rain of course, and had to get dragged off and taking back to my pals place (temporary base for visit to UK).

The back door was cover in oil as was the whole underneath of the vehicle. Had a bit of a prod around and found one of the oil pipe fitting nuts had come lose where it attaches to the gearbox and pumped pretty-much all it's oil over the motorway.

It's the pipe on the nearside (lhs) of the gearbox just above the gear selector switch. Very akward to get to to apply enough umph to close it permanently so once I got it done up as best as I could and refilled with oil I nipped it down to a NTS place, up onto a ramp where a great guy tightened it up some more.

I'm typing this from a motorway services north of Dover, on my 1000kms return trip - so please, wish me luck.

CHECK YOUR OILPIPE FIXINGS PLEASE!!!!!!!

You need to check my site Dave, I also posted it on LRO...............a VERY common problem.......

As Dave and I state

"IF YOU HAVE A D2 AUTO.............DON'T ---CHECK REPLACE THE AUTO COOLER PIPES!!!"

Doh!!...............just re read, never heard of one coming loose tbh..............but I still stand by what I say and they should be replaced as they also fail at the swaging, and thats it........home on a truck

Apart from that Dave, how was the car after the remap ?.

Del.

Hi Del, got home this morning at 3am after 19hrs in the saddle so I'm just having some chill time but will write a full report later today.

But as a taster - do it, do it, do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave

This sounds awfully familiar.....

Fortunately in my case I seem to have got away with just retightening the pipe and a refill.

Although when I arrived home this morning there was quite a rubber smell coming from the front drivers side wheelarch :(:(:(. It was after a bit of a manic traverse of Paris though??
