Evening all, I wanting to junk all bloody alarm systems and immobilisers out of my discovery 1 98 v8I.
Reason being I'm still having trouble getting my old girl started.
I'm waiting on bits , like new coil, ignition condensor, and spider bypass, but their might be another immobiliser as in the flashing led in mount of speedo tacho.
I just want a discovery that works without the 23 year old alarm tech which is now starting to get gremlins.
So I just would like a basic get into and turn the key which starts like my old 1963 series 2a did.
Anyone done this ? Is it possible

With a “spider” bypass you will have to dismantle the front of the dash to her access.
Or with a couple of lengths of wire can be used as an overlay of the two immobiliser circuits that are inhibited all don in 30 minutes.
 
Hello mate, it's pita here ( pain in the ass ) I've taken the centre dash out found the plug but not connected to anything? I've ordered a bypass before I took all gubbins out, so how do i shut all immobilisersorts off? Can you explain more please as I'm at the end of my rope truly.:(

Hi again, you will have to remind us what the main issue is ie. starting?
If so we need to know what immobiliser u now have fitted, if the spider is missing, then the method that u use to immobilise and then remobilise, do u still use the disco two button fob, do you still have remote central locking?? And what happens if u remove the 12v supply to the security ECU (green box) ? Normally u would loose central locking but importantly the engine wouldn’t start, permanently.

Hi sierrafery and discool, the bypass plug is on its way, and yes I have the two button key entry fob. She turns over, but no spark from coil?
The electrics look messed with (before me owning) classic Kev has given me some pointers which I will try tomorrow weather permitted. But any more pointers gladly accepted.
So I'm totally confused. I still can't get the pop noise out of my head, it did sound like it came from passenger side inside, I've had the relays out but not checked behind glove box as there is more stuff there.
Any ideas guys what could go pop inside? Keep it clean lol

Ok I remember somewhat, did you do the temporary link from battery + to coil + plus the correct termination to the amplifier and on to the distributor, there’s nothing else left to get a spark at the end of the king lead when turning over the engine.
 
Argh yes I had them checked and I hadn't screwed that up.in can't understand why she turns over with no spark also I can't smell any fuel either. And all this because I moved the bloody coil to bulkhead. But now back in original place and still nada.
