Wading depth?

Silly question time!

Rite,
I cannot find a wading kit or advise on what needs breathers extending into engine bay on a l322?

Is this because! I will proper **** the car up if I take it swimming? Lol
Seriously thou, is there anyone out there that preps l322s for expedition use and a bit of wading?

Hey, but it is a Landrover and I want to do what it sais on the tin.

Keep maximum depth to 3" and it should be fine.

My main concern was the diffs and transfer box, gearbox is sealed I think so that should be ok?

Basically I' do the odd bit of shooting on an estate in scunthorpe(4000 acres) and after this wet summer, some of the tracks are gonna be proper flooded.
So I was wanting to prep it, just incase.
What needs doing?

i wouldnt take it for granted units are fully sealed even with extended breathers ,seals keep oil in and not water out

Yep totally agree.
However, can anyone point me in the direction of a mechanic that will run me some extended breathers ( proper job )

Petrol or deisel?

You gotta lot more to worry about than diffs and transfer box with a petrol

Diesel td6 .
Just got of the phone with a chap in Doncaster. LRS 4x4.

He is the man!
If it doesn't exist he can build it for me.lol

Gonna pop into Donny next week and talk about expedition prepping .
I can feel the credit card melting already

The main worry is all the electrics !
I wouldn't go any deeper than about 2 foot !!! Lol

Expedtion prepping for a shooting estate in Scunthorpe

As it's a doozel t'is easy peasy lemon sqeezy then.

A few lengths of piping and some cable ties...

The addition of a snorkle if your thinking of going deeper than the wheel tops as suggested maximum depth by LR.

Just remember ecu's dont like water neither will your carpets.

A radiator muff would be a good idea as radiators dont like muddy water.

Oh and read up on wading

Yep done my fair share of wading in my previous landrovers( 62' 2a Perkins diesel)
70 lightweight 2/quarter petrol and my straight 6 109.

As Hippo stated, it's the friggin Electricks that bother me?
I'm not looking at taking her into rivers but sometimes you end up in 2 to 3 foot of ****/water without knowing!
When this happens I want to be confident that I can progress without ****ing the car up!

Hey it may never happen!
But I've learnt it's better to have a rubber and not need it, than need the rubber and not have one!

All Range Rovers these days are really only designed for dry weather never mind wading
Wouldn't want to take a P38 deeper than the depth of the tyre wall

Just don't over do it, you don't want to break your motor lol

If you come across water just check the depth first before and if not too deep, raise EAS to high and give it a go.

Even when I was working under my motor the other day there's wiring connectors going into the gearbox ! Sod putting them underwater :S

Yep it sounds a bit too much for a few days shooting!
However I work my spaniels as the picking up dogs at Normanby Hall along with a couple of other guys and trust me!
All day offroad driving around in mud ,water,snow,ice,tractor tracks that are 2 foot deep. Bogs, that are basically made from silt sat on clay.
You need your witts.

Last year was ad on the estate. But his year with all the water I'm sure all the tracks/ lanes fields,woods will be horrendous.

So as an old boy scout, preparation preparation preparation.

Probably work out cheaper than trying to use yours ! Lol

Had the experience of driving along a slightly flooded farm trac,( about 10 to 12 inches of water for about 100 yards, only to find that a stream that ran under the road via pipe work in the summer had cut a frigging hole into the road!
That's your 3 foot of **** and it's a bitch to drive out of when your upto your windscreen in orange clay coloured water.
