Hi, I am changing my old VDO cass/rad in my 03 defender to a Visteon manufacture LR 6500 Europe CD/Rad out of an 06. Please help!! I need to know the pin outs `at the rear of the radio to connect up. I have searched the net but no pin out diagram, I think they use the same radio in the freelander & ford transit. Finding the info is proving a real "pin" in the neck! (Sorry) Please help if you can. as a rule...
Black is earth. Red is switched live, yellow is permanent live. Blue is switched for stuff like powered arials, OR illumination feed.

Then, the 4 speaker outputs are in pairs of colours, i.e. Purple and Purple with Black Trace are one speaker, yellow and yellow with black trace another speaker. Hope this helps.

You can buy an adaptor lead for these, and it makes it much easier to work out the wires, as you get 2 connectors, one with the live/earth/constant live etc and the other with the speaker wires in pairs. (as on most "ordinary" car stereo's)
Halfords sell them.

Thanks folks for he feedback so far. I know the wireing colours & Halfords do indeed do adaptors but have not found one to suit. whats needed is a diagram of the pin outs at the back. Rod
PS Called in today to J Craddock, they did not know the answer, but they found the rear connectors (same as discovery) & charged me £0, what nice chaps!

Hi Everyone. The problem it is solved! The pin outs for a 2003/2006 Defender/ Discovery CD Radio are the same as a 2006 VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy MPV. The stereo sound great & I can now listen to my Max Bygraves CD's (only joking)
Thanks all. Rod
