Never needed to use any other tool apart from the spanner.

Put the spanner on the nut and give it a swift clout with a hammer ;)

I have. I had a hell of a job the first time I took mine off. After that some copraslip and just nipping it up worked nicely.

Diesel is reverse thread. Petrol is normal.

Hi Mike I have a piece of flat bar about 12" long 1" wide and about 3/8 thick When I've come across a stubbon one a belt with lump hammer with bar on nut and bang , always worked for me. Shock loosens it then use the spanner. As said coppaslip and just nip up when refitting

Hi,

So I think I'm about to attempt this to replace the coolant hoses, thermostat and water pump on a '97 Gems 4.6.
Will go and consult RAVE but the wee tricksy nut holder that RSW Chap used in his vid looked pretty handy, Does anyone have a source (or know the right size) for one of these ? -or is it really a waste of money and I just need the 36mm Spanner from Halfords ?

and again, for the specially confused, its petrol, so standing facing the windscreen I should turn it to my Right ? (effectively anti-clockwise / normal for the bolt)

Thanks again !

Bob
