one wheel test took 42s with a 5kg weight If i recall correctly this is too long?

If the 5Kg was hung at 1.2 M from the wheel centre, then 42S for the 1/4 turn is acceptable. Once the time gets to a minute, then it's time for a VCU.

Take a look at the damper on the VCU, too see if the rubber has begun to split.

will do thanks, got ot back in 2 wheel at the moment as I need transport.
Update - its fixed

Changed front prop ( bearing worn) no joy.

Put it i 2wheel using a blanking plate, found whent holding crown wheel unit in hand and rotating shaft bearings felt graunchy , found a recommended refurber who sold me the 2 bearings (timkin), oils seal and crush washer under £40 with postage, some wanted £80 when the whole IRD bearing kit is "approx £120

Changed them - no joy. Went back to 2 wheel drive.

Put car in for a new drop llnk and ball joint ,when they were bringing it back to me front offside driveshaft cv joint collapsed (will add an image of it later).

This unit was 17 months old and had done apprx max 8k miles. It was purchased from europart who said it was a refurb GKN. Trying to get money back

When it was fitted garage had a problem as it didn't seem to be right when fitting, tried again and it fitted fine, So for new one went to Bearmach they have GKN at £271 reduced to clear at £139, Their own make is £113 and has a 3yr warranty as opposed to 1 yr for GKN so bought that, They said clearing GKN because they rarely sell them.

Garage fitted it all ok in 2 wheel, then re fitted propshaft vibration gone.

Can only surmise when propshaft fitted with old driveshaft the loading change caused the failing propshaft to vibrate.

thanks for all the help

Hi

here are the images

That "cup" section was almost 1cm shorter on the europart item compared to the bearmach one.

It looks like the shaft has been bashing against what appears to have been three fingers extending towards centre, and I assure you there was no vibration in 2 wheel, no noise on full radius steering (fwd or rev), no clicks or knocks nothing. Garage staff had driven a few times in last few weeks .

apols for three shots of same thing can't seem to delete them

cheers
