Hi,can anyone tell me why prices for workshop manuals are subject to vat ? I've wanted to buy manuals for my Freelander 1 & Discovery 2 so I looked at Rimmer Bros. & prices are + vat but if you look at Haynes manuals on there (& Halfords) they're zero rated,as they should be.
As far as I know ALL instruction manuals should have NO VAT on them.
Any Custom & Excise experts on here ?

Maybe it's just a flaw in the website displaying an excluding vat price?
I live near British Parts UK in Stevenage & popped in for some bits for my Freelander. They have genuine L/R manuals on display all priced + VAT but again no VAT on their Haynes.
It would be interesting if anyone else has VAT on their genuine manuals, after all when you're paying 50/60/70 quid + 'VAT' it's a fair chunk more if it shouldn't be charged in the first place.

Rave workshop manual like the parts catalogue includes plans or drawings for industrial, architectural, engineering, commercial or similar purposes (the trade) is rated for VAT, with the Haynes manual it’s classed as book so vat is zero rated.
