Hi
Was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem..... first of al it cut out a few times on a journey of about 10 miles, and then has just getting worse. It will fire up but only run for about 20 - 30 seconds, I think I have narowed it down to a fuel problem? opposed to ignition? Is it easy to test the fuel pump and is it easy to get to, I have been told it's possibly an "in the tank" type of pump.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Ian

Should be a plate in the rear floor panel under the carpet.

Pump is indeed in the tank.

Thanks for that Peter but it turns out the fuel pump is working perfect. Tonight I have cracked open the nut on the fuel rail, then cranked it over and fuel is coming out under pressure so we went to the ignition side and found there is no spark, is there any common fault? I have checked the obvious, dist. cap, dist is turning, connections to the coil etc are all as they should be, no loose wires..... any further help appreciated
WISH IT WAS JUST MY DIGITAL CLOCK I was having problems with??

Can't believe no-one has any idea why I haven't got a spark, it appears to me that most of you lot must be running Discoveries with oil burning lumps in them instead of a proper engine, the way they were meant to ignite - with petrol - a V8. Wish I only had a problem with my reverse light (god, how important is that!?) or my chuffing digital clock.
Or maybe what should my tyres sizes be and the pressures??

Thanks anyway to those who have helped, I will now get my coat and walk to Halfords to buy a Haynes Manual

have you checked there is a spark coming from the coil?
have you checked all the earths?
are any leads broken?
if everything is working properly then try the ignition control module on the distributor:doh:

if it's like boomers v8 it may have remote module by coil

Did you mean you haven't seen "your" pile of ****e but as for w***er, I think that would refer to anyone who raves about LR's cos I think they are a pile of "****e" that's why mine will be for sale once I get it running.
There is absolutely no need to be so nasty as there are genuine. helpful people on this site who do know what they are talking about

Having skimmed this thread I think somebody may owe Fanatic a bit of an apology. He strikes me as somebody who knows a reasonable amount about Landys.

Apart from that do a search!!!!!! Ignition problems are common and just about every fix is lurking somewhere in LZ. The ignition system is not complicated and as a result it is relatively easy to trouble shoot; you will need either a Haynes Manual, Rave or best is the genuine workshop manual. You don't need any special tools, just a good DVM, some common sense and a lot of patience.
