Tacho works but does not get above 1500 rpm regardless of how much the loud pedal is pressed

You'll have to say what type of LR and which V8 engine is in it.
Does the engine get above 1500 revs or is it just the tacho stops rising after 1500 revs while the engine revs on up as normal?
