What MPG are we seeing from our V8's and diesels.

According to my Trip the best was 26mpg and that was motorway with cruise control set at 65.

I've brimmed to brimmed several times and it seems the Trip is accurate, atleast on mine

The worst was 15mpg..

My 4.6 Vogue showed just over 20MPG yesterday on a 120mile round trip.
Going there was c.55-60MPH, coming home was 65-70MPH.

Best I got from my 4.6 was 22 on a motorway trip dropped to 14 town driving.

At those speeds, I get between 27 & 29 mpg using brim to brim checks from my P38 diesel, plus diesel is cheaper than petrol over here, at least at the moment it is.

The L322 Td6 I get 24ish mixed, with mainly short around town. M/way I get around 30.
Disco I had before was 4L V8. I got 19ish mixed and 25ish for m/way.
I've always said ,for these types of vehicles, mpg doesnt really factor, as I write that off the moment I decide to drive a brick s/house ;) I'd say for the age old question, of those who do worry about mpg of a brick s/house, the mpg we've all posted, shows it's not a big enough difference to matter :D

I got from the West of Scotland ( no fuel required on ferry though)to Central London on 3/4 of a tank. So I think the diesel's doing ok :D

2.5 DSE with ECU chip. 16/18 around town. 22 to 24 decent run above 50 MPH. Steady 60/65 MPH motorway 34. Highest i have ever seen on dash was 94.6 MPG coasting down a long hill after resetting trip comp at top of hill. Didn't last long on the flat though. Use the power the chip provides around town and it is almost as bad as a V8.

I've got the diesel but with a manual box. Usually average somewhere in the twenties but I can get over 30 on a run. If I'm doing a lot of A roads I get 600 miles to a tank.

2001 4.6 Vogue, Petrol/LPG
After fitting the new engine at start of 2017 (core plugs were leaking - no overheating or any of the engine 'write off' scenarios people attribute with V8's - especially on LPG!!) I did the first 1000 miles on petrol to run it all in. Saw 22mpg on the dash after a run down to London. It then settled at around 18mpg on the dash over about 8000 miles.
Got the gas all working and set up, and a brim to brim on LPG (as it runs on that most of the time) worked out about 16mpg, combined. Though I can get up to about 250/260 miles out of 75L of LPG if I'm on a long trip.

It got reset when I had the transmission overhauled (again, nothing really wrong, more preventative as it's my only vehicle) and after about 1000 miles it's back up to mid 17's on the dash from memory. Though have been doing a lot more shorter/around town driving.

I also run it on A/T tyres which probably aren't the most amazing for fuel economy - but with LPG at about 65p/L and the occasional fill of petrol to keep that side all running happy (plus it starts on petrol and auto changes to gas when the coolant has hit 35 deg) - it's still pretty reasonable to run!
