Chevy V8! - Interesting, 'cos I would have thought the Range Rover jobby would be the easy answer, possibly with complete gearbox for 4wheel drive etc.
Would love to see piccies tho:cool: - 'cos I cant find anything on the web.

wow !! any picture?? with rumors of parts and engine shortage probably thats the way to go. can we use the standard jatco transmission??

The major problem (as I see it) is that all the V8 cars (landrovers and R75's) all have an in-line transmission set up i.e gearbox behind engine, not transverse. I am not sure how you could mount such a system in the "Freebie" and, of course, the weight, although I suppose the weight would be more evenly distributed down the length of the vehicle?

Any ideas anyone as to the feasability and practicality of this option?

Who fancies a 4.6Litre V8 Freelander with Drum brakes!!!!!

You can only get a 350ci short block V8 in there guys, even then you have to fit it in line, So no your old running gear wont fit anymore!!!! Even if it would mate up, The power of that motor would just destroy EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

The one i saw had Ford Lightening tranny, prop and back axle, with a very very nice limited slip diff. :D :D :D :D :D

ROFWL!:D
Did I see you say "You can ONLY get a 350ci short block V8 in there" - I suppose I COULD put up with a 5.7 Litre Freebie at a pinch:p

Only thing now is - how?

PMSL !!!!!!!

Its confession time for me!!!!

I was until the age of 22, a BODY REPAIRER AND SPANNER MONKEY!!!!!!

Yes its true, Me and my mate Keith once fitted a 350ci into a Suzuki Vitara for a laugh!!!! It had a stroker kit and willson manifolds, She was a beast, but the Vitara fell to bits and still lives in my mates garage!!!!!!

So no matter what your fantasy is, JUST BUILD IT!!!!! So what if it breaks up your marriage, IT DID MINE!!!! I do cheap divorce's!!!!!

Sorry Mate - I like my half of the house too much :) ;)

:) :D
any other suggestion of engine replacement that would match jatco transmission. anyway V8 with the current petrol price?!

Dont think any V8s are OK with Jatco (would it take the power?) All the V8 engines I know of are mounted in-line, so its a complete transmission change!?
Anyone know if the complete 4WD from a V8 Landy could be grafted in?
