Ok, just a quicky, does anyone know what size battery i SHOULD have in my 110 V8?

Got a battery last summer from halfords:doh: and was listed same as all defenders, but never seems to have much go when cranking. Eventually let me down during the recent cold weather.

Cheers, Pete.

As above - don't buy it from halfords either - my local indie will sell me a 3 year warranty (with forms and things) good branded battery for the landy for about £45/50.

Or go to an agricultural shop and buy the biggest one you can fit.

If I go to buy a battery I try and aim for 100Ah or over and about 600CCA or over. Such as:

Type 019 Varta Silver Dynamic Car Battery 12V 100Ah (Short Code: H3) (Varta DIN: 600 131 080 or 600 402 083) - Car Batteries - Varta Car Batteries

If there is a costco near you and you know someone with a card they do Bosch batterys for less than Halfords!

Last time I was in I asked which ones the black hacks were using and he pointed at a big commerical type battery for about 75 inc. VAT. A real beast.

Cheers for that, guess the bigger the better then!

I realise halfords can be pricey, but i have a trade card, and this battery comes out at about £66, and i believe its about the same as the one in the link from you discomania. Do you think this should be ok at that?

Halfords Lead Acid Battery HB019 from Halfords Price £99.99

Halfords are the only shop of this type around us, so therefore would need to pay for shipping if i bought elsewhere.

Before you buy a big battery, check the voltage across the battery terminals after at least half an hour driving, and with the engine running at about 2,000 rpm.

You MUST be able to get at least 13.8 volts, and probably nearer 14.4 volts.

If not the alternator may not be shoving out enough VOLTS to fully charge ANY battery.

I suggest you do this first.
