On ebay, he reckons hes flipped the disco manifolds and fitted hte turbo 90 degree out of sync.
Unusual and clever at the same time, wonder why no one else has thought of it before? usually nothing is new in the land rover world.
Keep thinking of how he has attached the manifold to the cyl head as Iirc the flange holes are offset.

Is no intercooler a problem and has the fan and heater box gone still uses series rad too
For me it makes the engine bay look a bit Heath Robinson

I suppose no i/c not the end of the world so long as not loaded/pulling heavy trailers, which lets be honest is not going to happen.

2a will have the flat style heater in the cab in front of the gearlever.

My tdi still has its 1959 radiator.

Pic of my engine bay
Proper early flat top series 2 rad (later 2a ones were wider wth angled ends to the top tank) it is basicaly a s1 rad with the outlets in a different location.
16 inch elec fan mounted in front of rad.

Taken just now, this is mine with 200di still want to tidy cables and pipes a bit better, I used a smaller battery to keep it and air cleaner in same place , does the engine cover reduce noise any further, you don’t see many of them fitted
I notice you have a valve on back of head ? To heater, do you open and shut this
Runs really cool does not get off the white bit on gauge, no fan

I notice yours is the same colour as mine.

I think my pic is a few years old now.

I dont touch the tap, tbh dont really know why I fitted it, most likely for summer use.

Battery under seat, had to cut 1/4 of battery tray away to clear timing chest, but kept rest of tray as I wanted to reuse the oil bath air cleaner.

As lynall says, it will probably run for years and years of occasional use.
But it wouldn't be for me, it does have the potential to put a lot more heat into the engine than the designer intended, and a Di conversion without the turbo would be adequate in a Series anyway.
That aftermarket air filter wouldn't be for me either, oil bath air filter on a Series is very good, and cheap to change the oil occasionally as well.

Steve with the 200 vacuum pump you should be able to do away with the old series vacuum resevoir , I do not have one with my 200DI with servo brakes.

Thanks Blackburn, I know, I used to run the 2286 without it, removing it would open up some space it might also hold the water bottle bracket but it’s a Series and quaint , I do think the brakes work better now with the Di fitted not sure if it’s vacuum related or just shoes working better
