Unplugged maf whilst engine running no difference is this correct

Hi all, I unplugged the maf sensor while engine is running no difference at all. . I read on a thread it should cut out is this correct any help would be appreciated

Sounds like the MAF is good.
Got any fault codes?

No mate its not showing anything. when it ticks overit runs uneven and smokes, smells rich until upto temperature. I've ordered another maf because if its unplugged it doesn't make a difference to the engine. I thought it would cut out!!

No it won't cut out. All that happens is the orange engine light comes on, as the ECM doesn't know the intake air temperature, otherwise the engine will normally run pretty well, sometimes better than if the MAF is connected.

Don't use cheap Ebay MAF sensors, as those are normally worse than on old original Bosch. Only use Bosch as replacements, or issues arise.
