Disco 2 unexpected heat

Guys, made close to 400 miles toward Greece on motorway today and at half way i noticed that the gear lever and cubby box(especially inside) are hot, not excessively and was steady but enough to make me worry as it's first time i notice that,... looked under and i observed that the heat shield is missing, maybe my mechanic neglected it last time when the box was off...,, before the trip i verified all the oil levels to be OK... should i worry or is this quite normal at +30*C ambient temp?

Mine gets hot too, and at much less than 400 miles.

After 90 or 100 miles, mines pretty warm, and that's at UK temps
