Just poked my head underneath for an inspection, why they didn't impliment the same metal and paint procedure on the D2 or indeed any LR i'll never know

Always amazes me to see under most P38's mine included there doesn't seem to be any Rot. ;)

The Sills that are usually full of holes on the RRC ;)

Yours is one of the cleaner ones ;)

Mine is 95 and seems to be no different to anyone else's later versions. All surface rust that will clean off with a brush. Underbody and sills just dusty.

My younger 98 defender chassis was shot with rot been gone for few years now even though it seemed same setup as P38 when new.

Defenders rot in front of your eyes. My old one was shot through with tin-worm and probably would have crumbled before long, even if my mate hadn't managed to turn it into a fireball.
 
Having a rot free chassis and body must be a real consolation whilst waiting for the recovery truck.

Depends on how you look at them, most with no experience of them will be quick to judge, but think you'll find if you keep on top of them they'll be good vehicles.

And certainly less complicated than it's modern compatriots - that being any modern LR.

Sorry Henry, I was being facetious and smug cos I own a S3. The nuts and bolts seize up on series cos you never need to put a spanner on them.

If looked after anything will last. Even back in the day series Land rovers mostly always needed the hot spanner to change spring hangers. Because they were just run till they dropped. Poorly maintained.
