Who told you that?? no its not true (tell that to kwik fit) but i would say buy the best you can afford (same a brakes) they last longer and take it easy on corners, then they will last you a long time

its not a bad idea to swap them around every 4 months or so, that way you will get even ware all around so swap fos to rns so you X them over with each other , cheack your pressures as well that helps a lot

when you get a set put your good ones on the back, then when you change your front ones do the same put them on the back, then every 3 or 4 months swap them around FNS on to ROS and your other ones the same X them over, check you pressures and you'll then get a lots better wear from them and the ware will be even

When i 1st bought a 4x4 i was told you had to change all 4 tyres at the same time regardless of the tread on the other 3, load of bollox!!! They need changing when they are worn.

I got 4 new ones anyway, with the two good ones one had a hugh nail in it and would have only lasted 6months I kept the other good on as a spare.
That is a good idea to swap them over, but then they will all wear even again so I would have to change all four in one go, so I might monitor the wear rate over the next year.

Hi Crossa
This is one of those mystics stories a little S**te from shanghai of course if you put different tyre sizes on you vehicle (front to back) you might cause problems or worse still on the same axle (only for speedway stars)

recently i was running some absolutly crap "klebber" front tyres which caused all sorts os steering problems when running in truck-rutted roads
Changed the tyres for 2 new Pirelli scorpions on the front and to ensure a better steering control a up-rated Bilsten steering damper
the change was spectacular
better grip now, no tracking problems and generally a much smoother rides
PS I run the 255/55/18 on mine

happy trails
Abe
