I'm currently looking at a few different brands of tyres but would like some help/advise. They will be used on tarmac and an incline unmade track thats fairly steep. They will be used for towing heavy loads so need a fair bit of bite to them. I'm looking at:

insa turbo rangers

bf goodrich all terrains

general grabber at2

general grabber at3

what do you guys reckon would suit my requirements best?

Cheers

More rugged sidewalls, so good off road, have they replaced at2, there were always months when they weren’t available
Thanks for the info/help. Would they be capable of pulling a few tonne up an unmade dirt track? I've currently got some crappy tyres on at the minute and it sometimes starts wheel spinning (even in low box).

wheels are more likely to spin in low box as your putting more torque through them so more likely to exceed what grip will allow

How about the Insa Turbo Traction Trac. Essentially a copy of the BFG Trac Edge.

Should be good in most situations without being extreme.

Have you ever used both as I have and there’s not much in it
Have used original Trac Edges and lots and lots of different aggressive tyres. We have a shed full of them. Including Simex Extreme trekker copies.

I haven’t personally run the Trac edge copies but know people who have them.

I’ve used them for a few months before removing them, I currently have 37” trepadors on my Defender and the traction track in 235/85/16 were noisier than them, not as noisy as Simex extreme treckers, but still to noisy for that type of tread pattern. There’s quite a few reviews on the net regarding the noise from them, but it all depends on how much time the op is going to spend on the road

I think all terrains are your best bet! Have you looked at the cooper st max? It's fairly aggressive looking for an all terrain, but I don't know about the noise of them! Grabber at3 will be my next tyre I think, I'm on the at2 atm, and like it alot. Although this time ill go for the 235/85 rather than 265/75, just out of personal preference really.

By the way my useage is almost identical to yours :)

I'm unable to access the diff lock as its a modified td5. Its under the hood along with the engine....

Id say a big priority for you would be to get the centre diff lock fitted, as that is a must, especially when towing big weight off-road, up an incline. Basically your down to one wheel drive if you don't have cdl engaged and you start to loose traction
