hiya guys.

hope everyone is keeping well and safe.

i recently rechecked my tyres for any buldges.cuts etc.

Noticed the front treads has worn down quicker than the rear one, have Pirelli's on the front, Dunlops on the back.

In the near distant future i was going to replace them.

sorry asking a daft question do i need to put the new tyres on the front or rear please.

i was considering second hand tyres, a garage down the road will sell them for £30.00 each fitted with 6mm tread on them.

Trying to keep the cost down as i think new tyres are about £100 each.

was wondering what do you guys swear by please.

Are mud and snow tyres noiser than non M & S tyres.

i currently have 215x65x16, i use the freelander 70 % on road the remainder is when i take my dog for a walk and end up on a muddy section of grass and of course the snow we have had

thanks so much and may i apologise for asking such dense questions

fronts will wear quicker as doing greater amount of driving,as long as not saw toothed then you should be fine.
Stick matched new tyres on rear to try and avoid transmission issues.

AT will suit you better

Tyres with more off road bias than what normal road tyres have, will run with more noise. I've had tyre wall cracks and buldges too. Hence the reason why I'd only ever buy new tyres. You never know what the previous owner got up to. And why he got rid of perfectly good tyres, at his cost.

I've just ordered 4 new tyres from them , the fourth time I've ordered from them over the years . Great service and price .

Tested the water over here in SW Ireland by getting some quotes from local tyre depots all the brands they could offer sized 225 55 17 were Star, Accelera, Sunny ,Kenda or Wanli ....? and these were quoted at upwards of € 100 each ! Where I could find a review they were slated for wear rate , noise and wet grip.

I am very wary of used tyres, as previoiusly mentioned, you cannot be sure of how they have been treated on the previous vehicle. I was also informed that a lot of these tyres come off write offs. Makes even more sense to buy new.

There's a few garages I know of that offer second hand tyres at £10 each. I recently had to change a tyre due to a buldge. Caused when off road. I made sure it couldn't be used again, as the thought of the tyre being passed on to one of these "outfits" scares me. Tyre had only done 500 miles.

thanks so much guys, i think i will wait and save the money so i can buy new tyres.

this is why i come on here to get an honest second opinion.

really appreciate it
