Tyre width... Well 235

Will a 235 tyre cause any rubbing issues on my freelander which is standard

235 what??
15, 16, 17 inch diameter??
50,55,60,65,70 profile??
Key thing is overall diameter and width.
When you have a tyre size simply use the tire diameter calculator to check.
I believe 225, 65, 17 are largest at around 28.5 inch overall diameter. You can check for other diameters.

235/70/16 on stock 16" alloys works

If you search 235/70R16 in the top right search box - there's various hits.

235/55/18 do rub the arch liner on my SE on full lock, but it's not really an issue.

Max width may also depend on the wheel used - its offset and its width. A modular with a reduced offset (that pushes the wheel outboard) will likely permit a wider tyre before it interferes with the suspension strut...
