Tyre rotation

So me old mans fronts are wearing a bit. Should/could they be rotated or does this upset vcu's etc? Thanking you

If it's a FL2 as per the title, there's no vcu so doesn't matter

Yep, gaylander 2. So is it recomended or not? Prolonging tyres is a good enough reason for me but if theres any other mechanical reason not to ill not bother.

No mechanical reason not to on a GL2 completely different drive train

Keep the most worn on the front. That's the general advise from the tyre industry these days.

Yeah fronts are wearing quicker. But i thought even it up by rotating em rather than having miss matched tyres wear em all out together, replace em all together.

You can still do that if you want. A lot of peeps don't bother or get a puncture and end up with an odd tyre. It's down to personal choice but my main dealer stopped changing tyres over. They just made sure newest were on the rear for all vehicles. That approach is the same for front wheel drive only cars these days as the advise from experts changed. Have a look at the tyre tests on you tube which explains the risk of sliding the back end out when cornering. This could end up being a very long thread.

I rotate even on the fl1 but do it on a regular basis if there was a big miss match then i would not . . . . .never had a problem and been doing it for years

So the fronts wear out quicker & you keep the most worn tyres on the front of the car in line with current advice do you..
A) replace all four at the same time when the fronts reach the limit or...
B) transfer the rears to the front and fit new tires to the rear of the vehicle?
What would you recommend?

IN theory you could do either. In practice I renew all 4 and sell the 2 best ones of the old ones.

And roatation includes swapping sides im guessing?no uneven wear so far on this set of tyres.

This was probbably my plan for the weekend bu i just remembered these are a pain to lift aint they?

I got a couple of them, just the rear lift point is a pita, basically the drive train i think.

If it's a Freelander 2 then download the free Freelander 2 manual in me sig and all will be revealed.

It's a good idea on all 4WD to rotate front to back to even up wear, on a lot of vehicles with a VCU for RWD such as the Nissan **** trail the warrenty is void on the VCU if the difference in tyre wear front to back is noticable. Even on the P38 which has a VCU to lock the centre diff, unbalanced tyre wear shortens the life of the VCU.

If the tyres are unidirectional, you cannot swap side to side

Yeah done it before and just checked again. Yep, its a pita. ****e lifting/ stand points.

It's a Freelander not a rusty ole tratter. 2x Weetabix and yer could lift it yerself.
