Ok maybe a daft question :D but , the rear tail lights on my R reg 300tdi are in the bumper , is there anyway way to have side lights in the light clusters either side of the rear door ?? I'm sure I've seen early Disco's with them there aswell as the bumper ???

Also , a vibration has crept in ! About 30 mph ish , not a violent one but just enough for the cup holder to start rattling , get a little worse when going faster but not over bearing though ?? Sounds daft I know  but very annoying

Cheers Guys

I thought all 97 disco's had tail lights and indicators in the main rear lamp unit and also in the bumper.

Vibration could be propshaft u/j's, wheel bearings, wheel ballance worn steering ball joints also a few other things so u nead to start checking.

Whats a 2.8 Mk3 Capri doing close to that plane ??

Your wiring loom may have the right connectors in the pillar, in which case its just get hold of the correct clusters, and perhaps change flasher relay

Endless possibilities, think the post above covered the most likely suspects

Cheers fella's , thats a Lancaster Bomber ,we had a photo shoot with it . Its at an airfield in Lincolnshire , cant remember the place off the top of me head ??

I'll have a closer look at the rear clusters to see why the side lights dont illuminate .

as for the vibration , I first thought Prop uj's (old ford problem) but it dont get worse when your on over run . I will have a proper mosey over the weekend

There's loads, Bracebridge Heath or Waddington a V bomber base when I went to school there.

It was at East Kirkby , had a full day there with Retro Ford doing the photo shoot with Capripower . What a fantastic bird she is too

Anyway . Lookin at Disco's on the road tonight , seen three about the same age as mine , one just had the lights in the bumper , one just in the light cluster's and the last had both !!!

well confused as to what I should have , all will be clear in the morning when I get at it ;)

OK

Goes like this

200 TDI had indicators and lights in body cluster none in bumper
300 TDI had the bumper mounted indicators and side lights

my 98 300 now has BOTH side cluster and bumper lights as I got 200 TDI clusters off fleebay fitted them, connector was a straight plug in job. all working no problem

your 300 may have the lenses for side lights but the electrickery path will not be in the side cluster, just look for 200TDI rear clusters (with indicator orange) and fit them in

some 1996 and all 97 models had the lights also in the body lamps this stoped on the 98 models. Some 95 models had them but this was a dealer fit.

You will find the rear light fittings will have provision for fitting additional side lights, you just need a couple of bulb holders and bulbs. To get them to light you will need to runs wires from the bumper mounted side lights, If I remember correctly you can pick up these supplies from in the rear wing.
You will need to remove the high level light clusters to carryout the conversion as you need to cut the metal frame of the light clusters to avoid a short.
You need to connect each of the new cables to the respective metal frame using a cable connector.
Did mine some years ago, just needs a bit of thought.

Yeah, mine also has lights in the bumper and on the body .. ;)

just a thought, have you checked the bulbs???

If you've got brake lights in the side cluster you should have sidelights too..

I was thinking the same ! I have brake lights defo . I thought that because of the rear two "seats" its a pain to get at the bulbs , so rather than mess about taking the car apart , just leave the brake lights and not have stop/tail ? I'm gonna investigate when I get some time
