Hi im in the middle of doing up my land rover defender 90 the battery box is gone :( so im thinkin of movin the batteries into the back and fitting a new fuel tank!!! So what do you think and anyone got any ideas on how to plum it up? whether to use a elecy pump or what? so any ideas?
thanx Antony

What you got? Td5, V8, Tdi, carb, injection etc?

Anyway with a Tdi, you need a pick up in the 2nd tank which goes to a tap, your main feed from the existing tank also goes to a tap so when you want to switch tanks, pull a lever and one tap will close and the other will open. you'll also need a fuel return line with a tap otherwise when you're on the 2nd tank, returned fuel will go to the main tank and empty the 2nd tank in minutes!

With a petrol, injection or td5 you'll need a second pump as well as the taps, the pump will need to be switchable on and off, the main pump will also need to be switchable as you won't want it running when the tap is closed.

I've fitted additional tank kits to Tdi's in the past and it's a lot of work and fiddling about with linkages to get the taps to work in sync.

install/weld/bolt a new battery box in the original location. remove old tank and fit a new one.
simple init?
