hiya guys,
what revs does the turbo come in please.
Should you feel the turbo coming in, at a certain revs would you feel it pull harder,
I must admit im still delighted with it.
went to a boot fair today and the fields were quite sodden from the rain it received in the last few days, this may sound mean but watched some of the cars wheel spining on the grass where i was able to potter around with no problems, that does sound mean doesnt it.
Im thinking of either doing the crankcase or egr conversion kit, which one do you think i should do first, the existing egr valve is clear.
Just wished to do the most important one first.
got a haynes manual, plus have found the bmw conversion kit for the crankcase.
thank guys

1750rpm. You shouldn't realy feel it kick in as such, it's fairly progressive. A duff or out of spec MAF is more likely to cause you the no power then sudden power issue as can to a lesser extent the turbo variable vanes sticking.

Thanks, it does pull extremely well, as i tried it yesterday up a very steep hill just kept pulling.

as i dont know these FL was trying to find out if you can feel the turbo coming in.

have been looking around ebay ref the egr valve and crankcase replacement, found the updated one from bmw.

ref the egr valve i noticed some people said you can blank it off, are you able to leave it on for now and blank off one the small tubes, i know nothing about these so i wouldnt wish to do anything that could possibly damage the engine.

if i was then could fit the crankcase kit to help protect the turbo.

thanks

The important one is the crankcase breather, if this gets blocked then it can damage the turbo. The EGR blanking will give you marginal performance improvement. Its there for a purpose and thats to prevent nitrous oxides from being formed which are carcenogous.

thanks i found on ebay the new bmw improved crankcase breather for £40.00

will order my self one.

it looks pretty straight forward but formally working on boilers shouldnt have a problem.

all the best

I bought my crankcase breather kit from my local BMW Dealer and I don't think I paid that much..it was about 30 something..

hiya, on ebay the cheapest i can find is 40.

i will check the web for a bmw link.

thanks so much as always for the kind help

You dont need to get the whole breather assembly. The new plastic cyclone separator is available from BMW dealers for about £18 as far as I can remember.
The BMW part no. is 11 12 7 799 367. Dont know why the funny spacing but its like that on all their boxes. It might also be available at Euro Car Parts.

thanks guys regarding the crankcase filter.

it defently sound s great idea to just upgrade the filter.

bmw says it has been modified / upgraded do you think it would be worth buying this one or to leave it and buy a standard one
