Would any small leaks/damage to this pipe cause noticeable reduction in power? I’m trying to remedy a slight power loss after having the starter motor changed. I’ve checked all turbo and intercooler pipes and these are ok. The spanner monkey had the turbo off the manifold to get the starter in and he may have damaged this pipe. The turbo works fine, he had the gauge on it and I can hear it kick in.
I’ll probably replace the pipe anyway, if I can source one, just really wanted to know what difference a new, [possibly] undamaged one would make?

Its only nylon air brake pipe, nowt special.
Is it a 200? I ask as they are a toss to do but no need to remove the turbo.

Yep, 200, good guess! I think a 300 pipe will fit too, as ready-made 200 pipes are hard to find (apparently).

The trick is to disconnect the battery, then unbolt the starter and move it out a little so you can get to the cable nuts, when putting it back make sure you fit the small wire to the solenoid before bolting the starter up as its impossible to get back on otherwise
The starter is not waterpoof, so if doing any deep water/muddy off road stuff you will have issues at some time from the starter, in the end I got a spare as it was getting silly.

Like I said above the pipe is just nylon air brake pipe and is a tight push fit onto the unions each end, literally pennies and minutes to make.

Cheers Lynall, I did go through a deep(ish) ford a couple of times a few days before the starter gave in, maybe that didn’t help!
I’m off to the spares shop later so I’ll look for some air brake pipe, will definitely be cheaper than the pipe with a part number.

Just measure the outside diameter, probably best off of ebay as motor factors are going to want to sell you a 10/15 mtr reel, still it might be cheaper than the part numbered version.
I think the starter can recover from water, its the mud that farks them.
