Any recommendations regarding upgrading the power on a TD5. I have seen adverts for plug in type power boosters and also for re-mapping your ECU. Which is the best (and tried) option. I also tow a large caravan and live in Bristol so companies in the west country would be better.

I have just banged off an email to my remapper to see if he has done anything for a TD5. He did my MG ZS180 and boosted it up to 200, I was the first one he did and spent all day on the rollers perfecting the map and AFR. He's based in Yeovil if that helps.

This may be dependant on the age of your D2.
I made enquiries several months back and the following text is part of the response I recieved....

"As for your Disco, being a 99 model the ECU requires a chip change as its not currently flashable (2002 onwards). Thats not a problem, it just means that there is a lot more work involved at our end – I would prefer for the car to be done in the garage at York, but it can also be done via post or perhaps at the Manby show later in the year.

The cost is £345+VAT and you’ll get approx 30-40bhp more along with about 20-25% more torque. The numbers don’t sound a lot but because we modify the torque curve a little the car becomes much more drivable".

dont go for an add in box, it just adds a bit of resistance to a few sensor readings and fools the ECU, go for a full on re-map/chip change where every sensor is taken into account and a new fuel map applied appropriatley.

Check out 'JE Engineering' in Coventry they did mine, the best money I ever spent on my TD5... about £280 if I remember rightly. It totaly transformed the car!

I would highly recommend them as a company and LR indie, and they are within a couple of hours drive from Bristol.
