Tryre decision for daily defender 90 300tdi

Hello. I am trying to choose a set of tyres for my defender which is my every day vehicle. It had the standard steel wheels. It will be doing a lot of miles so I am looking for more road tyres than off road, however it still needs to be good off road for harsh weather and the farm. Any suggestions?.

BFG A/T’s. Good off road and last for 60k+ in my experience.

Avon Range Master in 7.50X16 everyday of the week for me.

I have a set of these but they haven't seen tarmac in a 1 1/2 years lol

How long do the Avon's last for compared to the Goodrich?

With standard wheels stick to 7.50 x 16 or 235/85R16 sizes.

As for what type, the more off road capable, the less on road friendly, so you have to weigh up the balance for what you want.

Michelin XZL's are a good all round tyre and last well, hence why the military use them. But not the best on road.

BFG AT's are quite a good compromise, but for road use there are still better tyres.
